Fees & Costs
No SEAL protocol fees at launch. This does not mean every action is free. Review the active rates and complete quote before submitting, and distinguish one-time execution costs from ongoing borrowing interest.
What you may pay
| Cost | When it applies | Who or what sets it |
|---|---|---|
| SEAL protocol fee | Eligible yield, deposits, withdrawals or swaps when enabled | Governance, within contract caps and notice requirements |
| Network gas | Wallet-submitted approvals and actions, including failed transactions | Network conditions and transaction execution |
| Execution fee | Intent execution | The reviewed service quote, separate from protocol fees |
| Swap execution | Uniswap swaps, including margin execution | DEX liquidity fees, price impact and permitted slippage |
| Borrowing interest | While a margin account owes debt | Variable Aave rates; accrues over time |
| Flash-loan premium | Margin actions that use a flash loan | Aave's applicable premium |
| Margin protocol fee | Collateral withdrawn on close or reduction when enabled | Separate margin fee policy |
| Browser proving | Local computation | Device time and resources; no remote proving-service fee |
Sandbox funds and cost displays are demonstrations. They are not bills for public transactions.
Launch policy and activation
Every SEAL protocol fee starts at 0%. After sufficient volume, the planned defaults are 0.05% for regular swaps and private-margin closes or reductions, and 0.01% for swaps between registered stablecoins. Public margin, deposits and withdrawals remain at 0% under this policy. No nonzero yield fee has been selected; its maximum is 10% of eligible earned yield.
The volume threshold and measurement window must be published before activation is scheduled. Every increase requires fourteen days' notice. These are governance commitments: the contracts enforce caps and notice, without automatically measuring volume. Decreases can apply immediately.
A yield fee applies to eligible earnings above the loss-recovery baseline, not principal. Check current rates and pending changes in the app. Full limits and accounting are in Protocol Fee Policy.
Intent services and swaps
A small execution fee to cover gas applies. Review the current quote before submitting your intent for execution.
Direct submission pays network gas without an execution service charge. Uniswap liquidity fees, price impact and slippage are separate from the SEAL swap fee. An unavailable quote cannot establish the final execution cost.
Margin costs
Borrowing interest is recurring while debt remains; it is separate from the one-time costs of opening, adjusting, reducing or closing. Margin execution can also incur swap fees, price impact, gas, execution fees and Aave flash-loan premiums.
Margin fees apply to gross collateral withdrawn on CLOSE or REDUCE, before selling collateral to repay debt. Both modes start at zero and have a 0.10% contract cap. The later private default is 0.05%; public margin stays at zero under the policy. Opening, adding collateral and repaying are free of SEAL margin fees. Releasing pending proceeds does not charge the closing fee again. Signed fee caps and minimum receipts protect each order.
Liquidation can impose additional financial loss under Aave's liquidation rules. See Margin Risk. Measured gas and methodology belong in Protocol → Benchmarks, not the user action price.
