Gas and transaction costs
The UI uses PLONK planning budgets from config/gas-estimates.json. It labels them Planning estimate and simulates the completed transaction before submission. These budgets include allowances for proof verification and external integrations; they are neither measured mainnet receipts nor guaranteed upper bounds.
Current PLONK measurements
Seven full-capacity browser proofs passed both the optimized Solidity verifier and the canonical snarkjs verifier. With Osaka gas rules, optimized verification consumed 298,258 gas per warm call; canonical verification consumed 309,624–312,536 gas. These measurements exclude transaction intrinsic gas, calldata and pool execution. The Osaka-compiled verifier runtime matched the repository's Cancun-compiled runtime byte for byte. Ethereum's EIP-7883 changes modular-exponentiation pricing, so older EVM measurements are not interchangeable.
A complete local development withdrawal consumed 722,120 gas, including the PLONK verifier. Its preceding deposit consumed 494,553 gas and approval 46,330 gas. This smoke test used mock lending contracts and Prague execution rules, not a mainnet fork or production deployment. See the qualification record for the measured build and scope.
UI budgets
| Action | Local gas budget | Native-chain gas budget |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | 700,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Private transfer | 1,500,000 | 2,000,000 |
| Claim / settlement | 1,400,000 | 1,900,000 |
| Withdrawal | 1,400,000 | 2,400,000 |
| Swap | — | 3,000,000 |
| Approval | 70,000 | 70,000 |
Local allowances start with current mock-pool sample maxima plus full PLONK verification, transaction overhead and headroom. Native budgets allow additional unmeasured integration work. State, tree occupancy, routes and token behavior can exceed these samples; simulation remains necessary.
node --experimental-strip-types scripts/lib/action-gas.ts generates config/action-gas.json from these budgets; --check verifies it. The catalog identifies its PLONK proof scheme and planning status. The UI combines these gas budgets with network pricing and ETH/USD data. Base estimates additionally account for L1 data and operator charges. Protocol fees, DEX fees, slippage and intent service reimbursement remain separate. Missing or stale pricing is shown as unavailable.
Regression checks
Run node --experimental-strip-types scripts/tests/checks/check-solidity-gas.ts after a contract build to check deterministic gas regressions. These fixed test-call measurements are separate from full transaction receipts.
Production proving artifacts, Safe signer configurations, reserve state, route liquidity and EVM changes require fresh native-chain measurements. See the deployment runbook and fees.
The sandbox balance starts at $31,415.90 per network. Its earnings use illustrative prices and persisted principal/time/rates, not live wallet accounting.
